We hire slowly, and we mean it
HALDIR LTD is a small senior team by design. We grow when there is work that justifies it and a person who genuinely raises the standard — not when a headcount target says so.
01 — The work
What the job actually involves
You will talk to clients. You will read someone else's code and be honest about it. You will write documentation that a non-engineer can follow, and you will occasionally be the person who says a deadline is not achievable.
There is no layer between engineers and the people paying for the work. That is the best part of the job and the most demanding part of it. If you want a ticket queue and no contact with the outside world, this is the wrong company — and there is no shame in that.
In exchange: no theatre. No estimates you did not give, no commitments made in your name, no sprint ceremony that exists to produce a chart.
What we look for
- You can explain a technical trade-off to a non-technical person
- You write things down without being asked to
- You have maintained something you built, for long enough to regret parts of it
- You are comfortable saying "I do not know" and then finding out
- You review other people's code kindly and rigorously
- You care what happens to the system after you leave it
02 — Openings
Roles we are interested in
We keep a genuine list rather than an evergreen advert. When nothing is posted, a speculative application is still worth sending — we keep good ones on file.
Infrastructure / DevOps engineer
Terraform, containers and CI pipelines for several client environments at once. The person who makes deployments unremarkable.
Speculative application
Mobile, data, security or something we have not thought of. Tell us what you are good at and what you would want to work on.
03 — Hiring process
Four steps, no whiteboard algorithms
We do not ask you to invert a binary tree. We ask you to do the thing the job is.
You write to us
A short message and whatever evidence you like: repositories, writing, a system you are proud of. No cover letter theatre.
A conversation
An hour with the people you would work with, about work you have actually done. You should be interviewing us just as hard.
A paid exercise
A small, realistic task — reviewing a codebase, or scoping a change — done in your own time and paid at our normal rate. Nobody works for free here, including candidates.
Offer or a real reason
Either a written offer with the numbers in it, or a specific explanation of why not. No silence, and no "we went another direction".

What we offer, stated plainly
- Employment
- A contract with HALDIR LTD, a company registered in Cyprus under HE 459882. Terms, notice period and compensation are in writing before you accept.
- Where you work
- Nicosia, or remote within a time zone that overlaps our working day. We are written-first, so remote is genuinely workable rather than tolerated.
- Hours
- A normal working week. Crunch is a planning failure, and when it happens we treat it as one rather than as a culture.
- Learning
- A budget for books, courses and conferences, and time inside the working week to use it. Some of our practice standards started as somebody's side reading.
- Equipment
- A machine you choose, replaced when it stops being fast enough rather than when a depreciation schedule says so.
- What we will not offer
- Equity theatre, unlimited leave that nobody takes, or a title that inflates faster than the responsibility behind it.
