1. About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how HALDIR LTD (registration number HE 459882, Filippou, 11 Agios Dometios, 2363, Nicosia, Cyprus) uses cookies and similar technologies on haldir.info.

It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and then sends back to the server with every subsequent request. Cookies are how most sites recognise a returning visitor.

Local storage is a related browser feature. It also stores data on your device, but — unlike a cookie — it is never automatically transmitted to a server. It can only be read by scripts running on the page itself.

That distinction matters here, because it is the whole of what this site does.

3. Cookies on this site

There is no analytics platform, no tag manager, no advertising or remarketing pixel, no social network widget and no chat tool on this site. We do not measure visits, we do not build audience segments and we do not share data about your visit with anyone.

4. Local storage we use

The site stores exactly one item in your browser's local storage, so that the appearance you chose survives to your next visit.

This value is never transmitted to our server and never leaves your device. If you never touch the theme toggle, it is never written at all — the site simply stays in its default dark appearance.

5. Third-party content

Every asset on this site — stylesheets, scripts, images, icons and the two typefaces used — is served from haldir.info itself. Nothing is loaded from a content delivery network, a font service or any other third-party host.

This is a deliberate design decision. Loading a font or a script from another company's server would disclose your IP address and the page you are reading to that company, whether or not it set a cookie. We would rather it did not.

The one external link that leaves our domain is the link to the Cyprus data protection authority in our Privacy Policy, and it is only followed if you click it.

6. Why there is no cookie banner

Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), as implemented in Cypriot law, requires informed consent before storing information on a user's device — except where that storage is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has explicitly requested.

Since this site sets no cookies, and the single local storage item exists only to deliver a display preference you actively selected, no consent is required. Showing you a banner asking permission for something we do not do would be theatre.

If that ever changes — if we introduce analytics, for example — we will update this policy and request consent properly, before any such technology is loaded.

7. Managing browser storage

You remain in full control of what your browser stores. All major browsers let you inspect and delete cookies and local storage for an individual site:

• Chrome and Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Site data.
• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data.
• Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.

Clearing storage for haldir.info removes the theme preference and nothing else. The site will continue to work exactly as before and will fall back to its default dark appearance.

8. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy if the technologies used on the site change. The current version is always published on this page, with its effective date at the top.
