01 — Getting started

Starting a project

How does an engagement start?

With a written enquiry to [email protected]. An engineer reads it — not a sales function — and replies within one business day with an initial read of the problem and what we would want to know next.

From there we propose a scope, a timeline and a team shape in writing. Development starts once that is agreed and signed, and not before.

We do not have a specification. Is that a problem?

No. A complete specification written before anyone has examined the systems involved is usually wrong anyway. Discovery exists precisely for this, and we scope it as its own small engagement — you are free to take the resulting brief elsewhere.

How small a project will you take?

Small enough to be useful, large enough to be worth setting up a contract for. A focused audit or a single integration is a perfectly normal first engagement. If a request is genuinely a few hours of work, we will usually tell you how to do it yourself.

02 — Commercial

Pricing and contracts

How do you price work?

Two models. A fixed price against a defined scope, where the problem is well understood and the outcome can be described precisely. Or a monthly rate for an allocated team, where the product is evolving and priorities change between iterations.

Discovery is always priced separately and modestly. We would rather charge for two weeks of thinking than guess at an estimate for six months of building.

Why will you not quote from a one-paragraph brief?

Because any number we gave you would be fiction, and both of us would end up managing the consequences. An estimate is only meaningful once we know what exists today, what it must integrate with, and what "done" means to you.

What are your payment terms?

Invoices are payable within thirty days unless the agreement says otherwise, and amounts are exclusive of VAT and other applicable taxes. Milestone or monthly schedules are set per engagement. The general framework is in our Terms and Conditions.

What happens if we want to stop?

The notice period is in the agreement. On termination we hand over code, infrastructure, credentials and documentation for everything delivered and paid for. Nothing is withheld as leverage — the architecture is designed so that leaving is possible, which is the only version of that promise worth anything.

03 — Ownership

Intellectual property and confidentiality

Who owns the code you write?

Unless the agreement says otherwise, intellectual property in bespoke deliverables transfers to you on full payment, along with the documentation needed to operate and extend the system.

We retain ownership of our own pre-existing tools, libraries and know-how, and grant you a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them as embedded in your deliverables. Clause 9 of the Terms and Conditions sets this out in full.

Will you sign our NDA?

Yes. We treat client information as confidential by default and are happy to work under your template rather than insisting on ours.

Will you mention us as a client?

Only if the agreement permits it. Where it does, we describe the general nature of the work and never disclose confidential detail. If you would rather we said nothing at all, that is a single clause and we will not argue about it.

Do you use open source components?

Yes, as does everyone. We identify material components and their licences on request, and we will not knowingly include a component whose licence conflicts with your stated intended use — including any plans you have to sell or sublicense the result.

04 — Data

Data protection and security

Are you GDPR compliant?

We are established in Cyprus, an EU Member State, and operate under the GDPR. Where we process personal data on your behalf we act as a processor under a written data processing agreement, and we engage a sub-processor only with your prior authorisation. Detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Do you hold ISO 27001 or SOC 2?

No, and we will not display a badge implying otherwise. Our security page describes the practices we do follow and can evidence during due diligence. If your procurement requires certified suppliers, tell us early — it may rule us out.

Will our data leave the EU?

Not by default. We prefer providers processing within the EEA, and for clients with GDPR obligations we default to EU regions and name them before anything is provisioned. Where a transfer is unavoidable we put an appropriate Chapter V safeguard in place first.

Do you use AI tools on client code?

Our engineers use assistants for boilerplate and exploration, but client source code and production data are not sent to a third-party service without your written agreement. Where a client prohibits such tooling, we work without it and will state that in the contract if you want it there.

05 — After launch

Support and the long term

What does handover involve?

Deployment through the same automated pipeline you will use afterwards, transfer of credentials and infrastructure into accounts you own, an operations runbook, and sessions with your team until they can run the system without us. It is a process with a checklist, not an email with an attachment.

Do you offer 24/7 support?

Standard agreements cover business days in our time zone, which overlaps working hours across Europe and the Gulf. Extended cover can be arranged where a system warrants it — and where it truly needs follow-the-sun cover, we will say that a larger provider suits you better.

Will you maintain software you did not write?

Yes, after a fixed-scope audit. We need to understand what we are agreeing to support before agreeing to support it. You keep the audit report either way. See QA & support.

06 — The company

About HALDIR LTD

Who exactly are we contracting with?

HALDIR LTD, a private company limited by shares registered in the Republic of Cyprus under number HE 459882, with its registered office at Filippou, 11 Agios Dometios, 2363, Nicosia, Cyprus. These are the details on every contract and invoice, and they are published on our company page.

Do you subcontract the work?

No. Every line is written by our own engineers, and we will tell you who is on your project by name. If a project ever required a specialist we do not employ, we would tell you before the contract rather than after.

What time zone do you work in?

Cyprus. That overlaps a working day across Western Europe, the Gulf and much of Asia, which is why most clients get a same-day answer without anyone keeping unreasonable hours.

What languages do you work in?

English, for all contracts, documentation and correspondence. Code, comments and commit messages are in English too, so that any engineer who inherits the system can read it.

Still unanswered?

Ask the awkward question. A supplier who dodges it before the contract will dodge it afterwards too.
